CMA Foundation: Starting Your Cost Management Career
The CMA Foundation is the entry-level stage of the Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) course, governed by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI). CMA Foundation Syllabus (2026)
- Course Structure (New Scheme): The curriculum consists of four papers, each designed to provide core knowledge for further study in commerce and management.
Key Learning Areas
- Business Laws: Legal fundamentals, the Indian Contract Act, and business communication basics.
- Accounting: Basic accounting methodology, journal entries, ledger, trial balance, and an introduction to cost concepts and classification.
- Maths & Stats: Basic algebra, ratio and proportion, interest calculations, and statistical averages.
- Economics & Management: Microeconomics basics, demand and supply, and essential management functions.
Exam Pattern & Passing Criteria
The CMA Foundation exam is designed to be student-friendly while ensuring a standard level of proficiency.- Format: Objective-type online exams consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
- Minimum Score: You must score at least 40% in each paper to pass.
Eligibility & Important Dates
Our approach for CA Final students centers on Integrated Learning. Since the exam now emphasizes multidisciplinary case studies, we provide:- Eligibility: Students who have passed Class 10 can register provisionally, while those who have completed Class 12 (or equivalent) are eligible to sit for the examination.
- Exams: Held twice a year in June and December.
- Registration Deadlines:
For June Attempt: January 31st.
For December Attempt: July 31st.
