CSEET: Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test
The CSEET is the mandatory entrance exam for all students (including fresh graduates and postgraduates onwards) aspiring to join the CS Executive Programme. Starting from the June session, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has significantly restructured the exam into a more rigorous, centre-based format.
New Exam Structure (Effective June)
- The exam has transitioned from a single-day MCQ test to a four-day, 400-mark centre-based examination.
Subject Highlights
- Business Communication: Focuses on grammar, vocabulary, and professional correspondence like formal emails, letters, and reports.
- Fundamentals of Accounting: Covers basic concepts, journal entries, bank reconciliation, depreciation, and company accounts.
- Economic & Business Environment: Split between basic Economics (50 marks) and the Business Environment (50 marks), including roles of institutions like RBI and SEBI.
- Business Laws & Management: The only objective paper, covering Contract Law, Company Law basics (60 marks), and management principles (40 marks).
Passing Criteria
To clear the CSEET, a candidate must meet the following in one sitting:- Minimum 40% in each of the four papers.
- Minimum 50% aggregate across all papers (i.e., 200 out of 400 marks).
- No Negative Marking: There is no penalty for incorrect answers in the OMR-based paper.
Mandatory Practical Training
Before appearing for the Final examination (or before the results are declared, depending on the current ICMAI guidelines), candidates must complete:- Industry Oriented Training Programme (IOTP): A 7-day program focused on professional development.
- Practical Training: A mandatory period of practical experience in a recognized organization to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios.
Registration & Eligibility
- Eligibility: Students who have passed or are appearing for the 10+2 (Senior Secondary) examination.
- Exemptions: Graduates, postgraduates, or those who have cleared the final levels of CA (ICAI) or CMA (ICMAI) can register directly for the CS Executive Programme.
- Fees: Standard registration fee is ₹1,000, with an additional examination enrolment fee of ₹1,500 applicable at the time of exam enrolment.
- Validity: Your CSEET registration remains valid for 3 years from the month of registration.
